10-day journey along the Kasbahs Trail departing from Marrakech. Meet people who live in isolated locations and get a taste of real Moroccan culture. This journey combines the breathtaking scenery with the deep history of Morocco’s central region.

Starting and ending in Marrakech/Casablanca, this 10-day excursion covers the High Atlas highlands, with their captivating scenery and Berber communities. If you proceed south, you will reach the well-known Kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou in Morocco, which has been recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1987.

10 DAYS TOUR: MARRAKECH ITINERARY:

DAY 1: ARRIVAL TO MARRAKECH – TRANSFER TO THE HOTEL:

As agreed and guaranteed to you before, the Morocco Colourful Tours team will be waiting for you at the door of Menara Marrakech airport. You meet them and they pick you up at your hotel or riad which is usually located in the old Medina*old city.

Overnight in Marrakech.

DAY 2: MARRAKECH -ATLAS MOUNTAINS – AIT BEN HADDOU KASBAH – DADES GORGES:

Around 8 am as agreed before. Our team will be waiting for you in the lobby of your hotel. They meet you there and pick you up to show you around some Southeast parts of our beautiful country. Crossing the highest road in Morocco, the Tizi N Ticha Pass in the High Atlas mountains. We stopped through the way for outstanding pictures of the muddy Berber villages, landscapes, and nature.

In about 4 hours drive, we arrive at one of the famous sites in Morocco, the Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah, a fortified castle, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. A place where popular movies have been filmed. Such as Gladiator, Game of Thrones, Lawrence of Arabia, and many more. Make a visit to this extraordinary site, then have lunch either there at the village of Ait Ben Haddou, or at our next stop Ouarzazate which is half an hour’s drive.

In Ouarzazate, the Hollywood of all Africa. You visit and discover the Atlas studio, the world’s largest film studio. Afterward, you drive through the road named the Road of Thousands of Kasbahs. To the city of roses in Morocco *Kelaat M’gouna. Here you can see the pinky flowers everywhere alongside the road during springtime, and see how people there make different products from roses.

Eventually, we arrive at Boumalne Dades, or Dades Valley, a calm town, with a beautiful green valley. You spend your first night here in a hotel or a riad with dinner included.

DAY 3: BOUMALNE DADES – TOUDRA GORGES – ERRFOUD – MERZOUGA DESERT :

After a restful night and a flavourful breakfast at your hotel. The MCT team picks you up for your second day of the tour. It usually starts around 9 am. Leaving the town of Boumalne on the way to Tinghir, the city Toudra Gorge is located. You visit the astonishing Canyons of Toudra Gorge, a place visited all year round by worldwide rock climbing for adventuring. You may be lucky to see them climbing during your visit. A place not far from where nomads still live in caves, they come with their animals “sheep, goats, donkeys” for water, also take water with them for their home use.

After a walk near the freshwater, you hit the road to Tinjdad town or near another village for lunch. Next to Erfoud, a town famous for fossils, not to forget fresh dates from the large valley of Ziz crossing the town. After that, in an hour’s drive, you get to the beautiful Sahara desert of Merzouga, one of the most visited sites in Africa.

Your camel man awaits you next to the dunes for lifting you by his camels to the desert camp. The camel ride takes around 1 hour and 20 minutes including an amazing stop for an incredible sunset at the top of a high dune in the middle of the desert. Your camel guide will take several memorable pictures for you along the ride.

Arriving at the well-equipped camp, you will be welcomed with Moroccan tea and some cookies by the camp workers. In an hour, the working staff serve you a delicious dinner, then they make a fire outside the camp under a sky full of stars, where they will be playing Berber and African music, while you enjoy and dance around the fire.

DAY 4: MERZOUGA – ER-RISSANI – ZIZ VALLEY – CEDER FOREST – IFRANE – FEZ:

After a calm relaxing night, it is recommended to wake up early for one of the most astonishing sunrises in the desert. Enjoy a traditional breakfast, then return either by camel or 4WD to the village. Then head to Rissani, where you will visit the largest and the traditionalist Market in all of Southern Morocco. After a quiet stay, we are going to continue towards Midelt, passing by Ziz Valley and, Errachidia. Our lunch will be served in the city of Midelt, then to the Cedar forests of the beautiful Azrou, and by the Switzerland of Morocco the unique Ifrane, which is our last stop on this trip to Fes.

    Eventually, arrive at Fes, and spend the night in a beautiful riad in the old Medina* old city.

DAY 5: FES SIGHTSEEING:

After breakfast at your riad, you meet your local guide and the exploration of Fes begins. You start with the Royale Palace, founded back to the foundation of the new Fes.

Then, Mellah, the Jewish quarter, where you see a 17th-century synagogue. Also, The University of al-Qarawiyyin, founded as a mosque, then became one of the leading spiritual and educational centers of the historic Muslim world.

As well as, Chouara Tannery, the largest and oldest at oldest Medina quarter of the city, surrounded by leather shops with terraces from where you look down onto the pits.

Furthermore, you will take a walk around old souks (markets) of Fes, and wonder between the narrow alleys of the old Medina. Have an amazing lunch in one of the narrow streets in the heart of the old Medina. After that, you drive to the north highest place in Fes, from where you will have an incredible view of the old Medina. In addition to visiting the Moroccan Pottery and Ceramics with real professional local craftsmen.

Later on, Our team picks you up back to the riad for spending your second night in Fes.

DAY 6: FES – VOLUBILIS – CHEFCHAOUEN:

After spending 2nights/1day in this medieval city, it is time to leave it behind. Our target for today is the blue pearl. On our road, that takes 4 hour’s drive. We will pay a visit to the Volubilis site, the Roman ruins. Another UNESCO World Heritage Site, one of the largest and most important archaeological sites in Morocco, was built in a fertile agricultural area and developed in the 3rd century BC.

Then continue our way via Ouazan city, where a possible lunch is planned, then through the massive and beautiful Rif mountains, we arrive at Chefchaouen, one of the most visited places in all of Morocco if not all over the world. Painted blue, this town is a breathtaking place to visit.
We will arrive around 2 or 3 pm, check in to our riad, and then start strolling in the beautiful blue alleyways of the city. Also, Ras El Ma, an old watering hole, with an entrance to the Medina, is a popular place for both locals and tourists. Furthermore, the Plaza Uta el-Hammam, the main square in Chefchaouen, next to it is also the Kasbah ( A walled fortress).

DAY 7: CHECHAOUEN – RABAT – CASABLANCA:

It is time to depart this unforgettable city toward the capital of Morocco Rabat, then to Casablanca. In Rabat, you explore the huge unfinished Hassan Tower intended to be the largest one together with its minaret throughout the world. Its construction began in 1195 and was commissioned by Ya’qub al-Mansu. Across from this great historical spot is the mausoleum of King Hassan the Fifth, It contains the tombs of the Moroccan king Mohammed V and his two sons, late King Hassan II and Prince Abdallah.

Afterward, you pay a visit to the Udaya Kasbah, a walled neighborhood that dates back to the 12th century by the Almohads dynasty. The Kasbah is still inhabited now, and it is a unique place looking at the Atlantic ocean with fantastic blue and white walls.

Later on, we complete our way to the biggest city in the kingdom and the second largest in all Africa. We drive you to the riad where you spend the night.

DAY 8: CASABLANCA – MARRAKECH :

In the morning, it is time to explore the largest city in Morocco with our team. The most important landmarks of the city to visit is; Hassan’s second mosque, which looks out to the Atlantic Ocean, it is the second-biggest mosque in all of Africa and the fifth-biggest all over the world. The mosque is one of few open mosques for non-Muslims to visit.

Have a walk at the Corniche of Casablanca, from where you can get an interesting view of the Hassan II. Looking at the Atlantic Ocean and the movement of the waves is also a good show. As well as the pigeon square or Mohammed V square, where you will enjoy a ton of pigeons flying around you. In addition to Rick’s Cafe, known for the American movie named “Casablanca”.

Eventually, you take the highway to the red city of Marrakech, the fourth largest city, and one of the four former imperial cities in Morocco. We spend the night in Marrakech.

DAY 9: MARRAKECH SIGHTSEEING:

Today’s program will be for visiting Marrakech. In the morning around 9h30, your local guide will be waiting for you at the reception of your hotel. Your guide will accompany and show you all the historical sites of the red city Marrakech, including; Jemaa el-Fna Square, one of the main cultural spaces in the Marrakech founded in the eleventh century, and considered one of the busiest squares in all the world. And Saadian tombs date back to the Saadian dynasty(1578–1603). In addition to Bahia Palace, one of Marrakech’s most impressive buildings it was built at the end of the 19th century, and intended to be the most eye-catching palace of all times. Moreover; the 12th Koutoubia mosque, the most important and largest worship place at that time.

Later on, you will stroll inside the narrow streets of the old Medina *old city, and visit the colorful Souks/markets. After lunch in one of the restaurants in the old Medina, you hit the road to the modern area. Where you explore the blue garden of Majorelle and YSL Musume. In addition to Menara garden.

In the end, we pick you up back to the hotel/riad to relax and fresh after along exploration day.

DAY 10: HOTEL – MARRAKECH MENARA AIRPORT:

Your 10 days Tour comes to an end, after a lot of adventures during your stay in Morocco. Our team makes sure to transfer you to the Marrakech Menara airport 2 or 3 hours before your departure; so as not to miss your flight back home.

This tour can start either from Marrakech or Casablanca airports.
